Answers to your questions.
What is the cancellation policy?
One-on-one appointments that are canceled within less than 2 business days of the appointment will be subject to up to the full price of the appointment.
Does private insurance cover your services?
Some insurance companies may offer reimbursement for nutrition services. Each company and plan is different, you can contact them. They may offer something like nutrition counseling services or holistic nutrition services.
If you have a health spending account, generally this means you can spend a designated amount of money on health-related services throughout the year. If this is the case, you will likely be reimbursed for services.
If your insurance company or group benefits program requires more information about license or registration, the following is my registration information which will also be included on your receipt:
Canadian Association of Integrative Nutrition
CAIN-Registered Holistic Nutrition Practitioner™ (CAIN-RHNP™)
Member #1702309
Please get in touch with your company or representative to get information about whether these services are covered.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
Currently, InHarmony Wellness is virtual only. However, if you are in the Kingston area and interested in in-person appointments, group sessions, training, or other; please let us know!
What is the difference between a Health Coach, Nutritionist, Holistic Nutritionist, etc.?
There are so many different types of coaches, nutritionists, fitness specialists, etc. out there it may get confusing. Many people could have a designation based on the school they went to or based on the professional association they registered with.
I’ve received the following designations:
Certified Holistic Nutrition Coach (CHNC) – obtained through school
Certified Holistic Nutrition Practitioner (CHNP) – obtained through school
CAIN-Registered Holistic Nutrition Practitioner™ (CAIN-RHNP™) – obtained through the Canadian Association of Integrative Nutrition
Being registered with a professional association is important because members are required to have continuing education yearly to stay on top of new research and ideas around their profession. These associations also hold members accountable to a certain level of standards, code of conduct, code of ethics, etc. They also have a standard of education to ensure practitioners have the appropriate knowledge base to practice in their field.
The main idea with any type of Holistic practitioner is to focus on all elements of health, Mind, Body, and Spirit.
To look at the person as a whole and address signs and symptoms in a way that will heal and nourish all aspects of wellness.
Approximate hours of education for each type of designation:
Health Coach – 200 hours
Holistic Nutrition Coach – 1000 hours
Holistic Nutritionist – 2000 hours
What a Holistic Nutritionist might do:
Advise clients on how to improve diet, lifestyle, and behaviors related to promoting health.
Offer support based on evidence-based science and holistic principles.
May work with other licensed healthcare providers to help an individual improve health or a pre-existing condition and support goals.
Advise on therapeutic menus and nutrients.
Review laboratory assessments.
Complete medical history, diet, and lifestyle assessments.
Teach healthy eating and make recommendations about nutrition and lifestyle changes.
Suggestions for managing stress and/or improvements to lifestyle.
Advise on the use of supplementation.
Meal planning.
Research health issues.
What a Holistic Nutritionist does NOT do:
Practice or give advice outside their level of education.
Claim any product or service will cure, treat or prevent a disease or disorder.
Diagnose a specific condition, disease, or disorder.
Practice medicine.
Practice mental health therapies.
Practice medical nutrition.
Why is the intake form so long?
It is important to gain as much knowledge about your medical background, diet, and lifestyle as possible. These things allow me to have the most information to get to the root cause of your health concerns. If we can get to the root cause, we can address it rather than quick fixes!
What can I expect in my appointment?
In your initial consultation, you can expect that there will be more questions about some things you filled out in your intake form and an understanding of exactly what kinds of goals and/or health concerns you have.
Creating your goals will be collaborative, you should be involved in making steps to reach your goals instead of just being told what you should do.
After your appointment you will be provided with whatever protocols are necessary for your specific goals; this could include goals we discussed, extra resources, supplement recommendations, etc.
Why do I have to save my credit card to my client account?
Since your appointments are virtual, processing your credit/debit card through our online portal is how we take payments. The Practice Better portal complies with PCI regulations and is a safe & secure system. You can review Practice Better’s payment processing practices here.
If you are concerned about paying in this manner, please email to discuss alternate payment options to contact@inharmonywellness.ca.
